When I was a kid … I remember my Mom and Dad singing a song written in 1922: “Nothing could be finer than to be in Carolina in the morning….” I’ve been singing that all morning and changing the ‘in’ to ‘with’ because we now have our own Carolina!
Carolina Pearl Howard – born 8:42PM last night to Courtney and Grant. This little one weighs in at 9lb.3oz and 21.5 inches. All are doing great and of course – WE are grateful!
So here is number 5 – behind Carolina’s big sister – Maggie (age 5), big brother Finn (18 months) and our other daughter Erin (and Jim) have given us Jack (age 3) and Lily Kate (14 mos) .. And then there are our residency Doctors – Lindsay and Jim who are expecting their first child – Charles Edward Sikora on 3/5/2011. That will make 6!!!! (3 guys and 3 girls!) AND we have a son, Christopher who along with his sweet wife Kajsa are considering their options.
We’re imagining 8 to 10 grandchildren before it is all over!. I once had thoughts of retiring and never considered being in the market for a bus .. Retirement is looking further away and the bus – know any good deals!?!?
We’re blessed! There are few sounds more special to me or sites I enjoy more than when one of these wonderful kids see me, start running while hollering to the top of their lungs …. “POPPY!” At that moment, not much else matters folks …
I’m thinking this will be a pretty awesome Monday! Welcome Sweet Carolina … nothing COULD be finer … See you at Poppy’s Place very soon!
