I may get criticized here because there are MANY MANY George Jones fans in thisGeorge-and-Nancy-Jones-caro world.  I just didn’t happen to be one of them because his vocal style just didn’t bring what I called music to my ears!  SORRY!  However, being a 37+ year resident of the Nashville area and seeing country stars at intersections, grocery stores and malls,  I did have some George and Nancy Jones sightings over the years.  I even joked with him at the post office once that he didn’t have enough hands to carry his mail.  You see and hear more about country artists when you live in this town!

Tonight, there is a tribute show at our arena for “The Possum”.  They’re calling it “Playin’ Possum! The Final No Show”.  There will be more than 100 artists here in the city to present their tribute to Mr. Jones and many of them are headliners in their own right! http://bit.ly/19NZtmj.  There is background to this night, Mr. Jones’ impressions of the tribute show as it was being organized and how his always supportive, consistently caring wife Nancy continues his legacy.

I always read Peter Cooper.  He’s a music business writer for The Tennessean, US Today and other publications.  He seems to get to the “inside” of music stories and knows how to write them.  His article released this morning is worth your time to read.  http://tnne.ws/1bImo3F

No – I’m not a George Jones fan but he had a worthy transformation in his later years and the real George stood up!  I actually started to hum … “He stopped loving her today!” after I read the article.  Enjoy!
