As the World Series wrapped up last night, I kept thinking … “Man, I wish Harry Caray had been there and we could have heard him call that game!” I’m not a big Cubs fan but my root for the underdog spirit rose up during this World Series and like so many others, I rallied with cheers after they beat that great Indians team.
But my love for the Cubs came from my love for the gifts of Harry Caray. He was the ultimate Cubs fan and he knew how to relay that team excitement when he would call a Cubs game.
Well, wouldn’t you know it, Budweiser brought out a TV ad this morning with permission from the Caray family and I got what I hoped for. By way of some great editing, they put Harry there last night and he called that final out….. and yes, it was the Harry Caray we all grew to love over the years. This brought me chills just remembering those awesome broadcasts when you would hear….”CUBS WIN, CUBS WIN!” I’m glad Harry could make the game even it was on video tape!
